About Me
First and foremost, I’m an actor. And yet, like most artists, we are multi-hyphenate in our expressions. So, go ahead and add writer, director, singer, musician, movement artist, and dog lover to that list. And with my profound curiosity for the human condition and a deep passion for storytelling, I’m confident that list will continue to grow.
I grew up in Southern California and was blessed with parents who loved and encouraged me. From magic shows in the living room to show choir concerts in high school to professional gigs across the country, they always showed up and supported me. They even followed me to Japan during typhoon season when I performed overseas. Now that’s dedication!
I've also had the privilege of receiving exceptional actor training throughout my career and have engaged with some of the most amazing teachers an artist could ask for. From earning my graduate degree from the University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training program to recent training in motion capture techniques, I continue to grow as an artist in order to better serve my discipline. I live by the mantra, “If we stop growing, we die”.
As an actor, I always strive for authenticity in performance. Whether on Film, Stage, or in the Volume, I am committed to bringing physical specificity and emotional verity to every role I play.
To support this lifelong acting habit, I have found an equal passion that has supported me for over twenty years; teaching. I am currently an Associate Professor of Theatre and Head of Performance at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am fortunate not only to work in my field of expertise but also to train and engage with budding young artists. These actors always inspire and challenge me to be better and for that I am forever grateful.
So, that’s a little bit about me. As I look forward to future roles and collaborations, I often remember the words of Shakespeare, “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt”.
Words to live by.
